Job overview
Jhpiego Tanzania in collaboration with other stakeholders is currently supporting Ministry of Health, Community development, gender, Elderly, and Children (henceforth referred to MoH) to implementing Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) in two regions of Lake Zone Tanzania. This program aims at improving uptake of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) through improving the quality of care by ensuring respectful gender-sensitive care across the continuum .of care and, constructively engaging men at all intervention levels (community and health facility) to mitigate gender-based violence posed by gender inequality norms and practices.

Furthermore, Jhpiego under the funding from Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada has recently started initiative called more and Better Midwives for Rural Tanzania (MBM-RTZ).
This initiative aims at fulfilling national priorities of maternal and newborn survival through addressing inadequate numbers and inequitable distribution of human resource of health for 4r midwifery care. By so doing, it will significantly contribute to quality RMNCAH through increasing women’s and children’s access to skilled midwifery care now and in future.

MBM-RTZ initiative will be implemented hand-n-hand with MoHDCGEC in the same catchment area ‘where MCSP covers; lake and Western zone of Tanzania. Among approaches of MBM-RTZ is delivering evidence-based trainings to pre-service and in service midwifery. Gender inequality is evidenced to impend health program success, hence gender transformative awareness rising will be integral part of all trainings to tutors, preceptors and ‘in-service midwifery mentors.

This position will partly support MCSP focuses mainly on respectful gender-sensitive quality
MNCAH service provision and MBM-RTZ focusing mainly on gender transformation of midwifery tutors, preceptors and mentors through training and mentorships.

Data Quality Consultant/statistician [1 position based in Dar]

Job Overview:
The Sauti program is accumulating a large number 0f data points on a daily basis which are Collected through various often decentralized databases at all events. Data quality is crucial to maintain the reporting standard required for this program. Currently, Sauti is transitioning to electronic data collection which will eventually replace the paper based data collection. The Data quality consultant will be responsible to ensure that until the transition is completed, the data generated through the paper based collection route is complete and of high standards by performing regularly data quality checks and preparing the dataset for analysis. She/he will also be responsible for running outputs and cross-checking with the regional data managers to check in the original data source to ensure data accuracy. In addition, the data quality consultant will be responsible for conducting internal data quality assessments, developing data quality improvement plans for each region and Sauti project in general and develop and conduct the first formal DOA for Sauti services and collaborating CSOs. Planned starting from 03 2016 and anticipated to finish 01 2017.

The person in this position must be able to work independently, be able to understand Sauti project’s data reporting requirements to ensure his/her work is tailored towards delivering datasheet which will help the project meet its internal and external data reporting requirements. The position is temporary for 9 Months. In the first three months, the focus should be on cleaning and improving incoming data to ensure timely reporting. The following six months the focus should shift to developing and conducting formal DOA assessments in the Sauti regions. 20% of the position should be committed to preparing datasets for analysis.

Required Qualifications:
• Degree or higher diploma in Statistics, IT, records management, electronic medical records
• 1 – 3 years of experience working with data analysis and data management
• Experience working with health data
• Experience working with client level data .
• Experience of using Stata for data analysis
• Experience of using DHIS2, MS Excel, MS Access, Epi-info, SPSS, and other types of data management/analytical Software will be an added advantage
• Evidence of ability to work co-operatively with others to meet tight deadlines i.e
